Farewell to Alyson
It is with deepest gratitude we are announcing that Alyson Dicey is stepping down from her role at Thou Art Here Theatre.
Alyson has been part of Thou Art Here since 2012. In that time she has been involved in every part of the organization from when we were a tiny collective to receiving our first grant to touring a play to Calgary to becoming a non-profit & charity to creating the Write Here program as well as acting in many of our productions, and doing every job of arts admin and theatre producing imaginable.

Expanse Festival offers theatre pieces for every body
The theatre festival explores where art, audience and environment meet
Andrew Ritchie cycles a solid 10 kilometres every time he performs his one man show about cycling and active transportation.
That isn’t a metaphor for the effort it takes to be on stage or the stress he’s under, but instead the actual distance he cycles on an exercise bike while performing Cycle. It’s also one of the shows at this year’s Expanse Festival, starting this weekend.
IMMERSE YOURSELF
Bringing innovative theatre into unexpected spaces
THEATRE ISN’T JUST a place — it’s an art that can transform spaces as everyday as an office into sites of human connection and creativity.
Louise Casemore has a vision for her immersive theatre project, exploring the workplace and job interview process through audience participation.
It’s an opportunity for the Edmonton playwright to build a world where the audience steps into the imagined workplace and interacts with actors, getting to live through the hiring process rather than simply observing it from their seats. And her vision is being made possible through a grant from Edmonton Community Foundation (ECF).
“I’m very interested in the mechanics of how story and experience can weave together, and so finding narrative opportunities that can, you know, reach beyond just the gimmick of an experience is something I’m really interested in, especially with this type of project,” says Casemore.
Where the Rubber Meets the Stage
Andrew Ritchie isn’t here to sway your opinion on bike lanes.
“I don’t think that’s necessarily possible in a 75-minute show,” says the actor, playwright and artistic director of Edmonton’s Thou Art Here Theatre. Still, his award-winning solo play Cycle, playing at the Roxy Theatre until Oct. 26, digs deep into the often contentious topic of active transportation from the perspective of a financially challenged bike food courier.
Playwright Casemore takes on new immersive theatre piece
Playwright Louise Casemore will finally have time to write and not worry about money, knowing her upcoming project will receive a full production in two years.
The former St. Albert actor-director was the only artist accepted into Thou Art Here Theatre’s "Write Here" program, a two-year development project that allows her to pen an original immersive theatre piece.
Immersive theatre takes productions out of conventional theatre spaces directly into the community. Examples include churches, parks, community centres, museums, art galleries, private homes and more.
Write Here allows Casemore to earn an income while writing, a luxury most playwrights simply dream about. In addition, the Edmonton company will supply her with mentorship, a dramaturg, creative workshops and a world premiere production in 2027.
